# Shortcode doesn’t work in Excerpt

 * I add this to the post:
    <div class=”larger”>**Countdown to Arizona Gives Day**
   </div> [wpcdt-countdown id=”6698″]
 * Looks great inside full single post:
    [https://soazseniorpride.org/arizona-gives-day-2019/](https://soazseniorpride.org/arizona-gives-day-2019/)
 * But if I add the same shortcode to the manual Excerpt for this post, the countdown
   animation doesn’t display. The shortcode itself displays to the page. And since
   this displays to the home news page of this live site, I removed the shortcode
   from the manual Excerpt.
 * Can you advise? I would love for this to work _especially_ in the Excerpt that
   displays to the home news page.

 * Just add this filter to the theme’s functions.php:
    add_filter(‘the_excerpt’,‘
   do_shortcode’);
