# Shortcode Not Working?

 * I saw this from xnau when trying to figure out why my filter shortcode was not
   working:
 * > That makes me wonder if the syntax of the shortcode is incorrect. Have you 
   > tried setting up the shortcode in “text” mode? Sometimes visual mode changes
   > the characters (such as making straight quotes curly).
 * Sure enough when I manually typed the shortcode instead of pasting it in it miraculously
   worked.

 * Thanks for this tip…pasting can sometimes include invisible characters that break
   the syntax.
