Shortcode not working in custom template

Use do_shortcode in your template file. Put this where you want the output of the shortcode to appear:

echo do_shortcode( '[catlist id=5]' );

I am using the same template and having the same issue.
I am not code savy but am great at omitting and adding code.

Where should I place the code to get my shortcodes working on my pages?
