 * Anyway to have the shoutbox in a post instead of in a widget? Feels more significant
   if users have a place to go, outside of what visitors can see, to discuss things.

 * There is no shortcode for the shoutbox in the plugin and I have no plans on making
   one.
 * You can search for other shoutbox plugins that may have this functionality you
   want.
    You can also consider using the comments for discussing things in a post.
