You similar posts should pull from other posts within the same category and by default, it should show multiple columns. Looks like you’re using an old version of the theme. Make sure you are up to date. Let me know if this problem remains after updating.

I think that it can be connected with plugin:
Advanced Excerpt plugin.
But it is strange that latest posts are shown without any problems, there is only issue with similar posts…

You should be able to update right from your wordpress dashboard. All of your settings will be saved upon updating. The only thing that wouldn’t be saved with updating is if you edited theme files, but if you’re doing that you should be using a child theme.
