 * Wow! This plugin is intense.
    For us beginners, who have been told that this
   is the plugin to have as we progress into “bigger and better things”, may I ask
   if it is even capable of doing a simple thing…
 * I want to display the contents of a .pdf on a post. A single pdf, uploaded to
   the media library.
 * Is this possible?
 * Thanks
    ALG

 * Thanks for the good words – I assume you mean “intense” in a positive way 😉
 * As you know, PDF documents are usually downloaded to the client’s browser and
   opened in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. The code required to render and browse
   these documents is also intense.
 * There’s no I know of to “**_display the contents of a .pdf on a post_**“, that
   is, make it look like the document is embedded in the body of the post/page.
   However, there is at least one plugin that can open the document in a “lightbox”
   pop-up window. If that sounds like an acceptable alternative, have a look at
   this earlier support topic and see if it will meet your needs:
 * [media search & display](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/media-search-display)
 * Towards the end of that topic is a discussion of [Easy FancyBox](http://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-fancybox/),
   which may do what you need.
 * Thanks for your question and for your interest in the plugin. I am marking this
   topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems or further questions.

 * Yep, I mean “intense”! I’ve had complete graduate school courses that didn’t
   have this much content. 🙂
 * It is going to take awhile to figure out all the different things you have built
   into it, and how to use them to our advantage.
 * And yes, I am looking for a way to put the content of a pdf directly into a post
   or on a page without having to convert, reformat, etc.
 * So far the Google Docs embed route is leading in ability to do this, but it is
   not ideal.

 * Thanks for the update and the compliment. Sometimes I think MLA has become the
   Winchester Mystery House of plugins (Google it).
 * If you get to a successful conclusion with Google Docs or any other approach,
   consider posting an update here so I and other MLA users can benefit from your
   good work. Thanks!
