Single-player.php template and permalinks

I’ve installed version 2.1 of Team Rosters. I’ve copied over the single-player.php template into my themes folder. I indeed get a 404 error when I click on a player’s link from my roster view.
My permalink structure is not based on the “Post Name” option, I use a custom structure as follows:

http://mydomainname/com/tag/%postname%/

Does your plug-in support my custom permalink structure? If so could you provide the work around?
