Single quotes cannot be typed

    I have just installed WordPress using fantastico and most things work well. However when I type an apostrophe (‘) into the title or body of a post the apostrophe gets doubled. I can get around this by typing ' instead of ‘ but this seems a little extreme.

    This doesn’t happen on my freinds site. I believe he used the manual installation method.

    Is there something in the Fantastico set-up which causes this problem ? Is there a setting in one of the config files that I could change to fix it.

    Is there no one out there who has come across this problem before?

    I’m fairly sure it must be something to do with the way the blog encodes the characters – presumably there must be a setting in a config file to put ths right?

    I’ve not encountered the double apostrophe problem so can’t say what the source of it might be. But I can pretty much assure you the problem has nothing to do with having installed with Fantastico.

    I don’t know if it will help here, but you might try installing the TinyMCE Advanced editor plugin

    I have seen it resolve certain editor issues before that seemed unrelated.
