single.php not working for custom post type

Hey,

I’m using two post types on my site. The default and a custom one I’ve built.

single.php works on my default posts but I can’t for the life of me get it to work with the custom one I’ve made. I thought the page hierarchy would have it default to single.php? I even tried making single-typename.php file with no effect.

Any idea what could be going wrong?
