Site Magically Changing to HTTPS

I am working with a client to update his WordPress blog and I have installed the Elementor page builder to give us more functionality and layout options. However, the site continually and somehow magically keeps changing to HTTPS instead of HTTP. There is no SSL certificate installed and no one has logged in to make any changes at all.

The hosting environment (easyWP) says its the fault of the Elementor plugin, which I find dubious at best. However, has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is there any validity to their argument that Elementor could be to blame?

My initial reaction is to migrate my client to another host, but if easyWP is onto something, I’d rather know now before doing a migration.
