• WordPress.com says my pages are part of a ww.wp.xz.cn website hosted by BlueHost. Whatever it is, I am unable to access it to edit the pages further. So confused, and don’t want to have to re-create the pages and images.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks, Georgr, but while I can see my site, I still can not get in to edit.

This is definitely a ww.wp.xz.cn site but I’m not getting any help – just the brush-off. I have an email from ww.wp.xz.cn sent on August 21 that confirms that I have that site. I just don’t remember the password. According to that email my user name is gonenativeus. I TRY TO LOG IN, but since I don’t remember the password, I get a window saying that a link to reset password is being sent to my email, but I never, never receive it. Perhaps they are sending it to my old email address, [redacted], TO WHICH I NO LONGER HAVE ACCESS. My current emails addresses are [email redacted].`There must be some way to resolve this problem,so please point me that way.

    Hello @gonenativeus,

The various ways to reset your WordPress password are outlined in the documentation on this page:

    https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Resetting_Your_Password

Please follow the instructions on that page and let us know if you encounter any problem along the way. We’d be glad to help!

Oh, and it’s never a good idea to put your email addresses in a public forum like this. It’s a sure way to get your address harvested by spammers and be bombarded with spam emails.

As an aside, please note that the “ww.wp.xz.cn” that you mention is just a community of volunteers who build the WordPress software, give it out to the world for free, and even provide free support for users of the software.

Lots of us pop in here in our spare time, sometimes after our full-time jobs, to help others — for free.

So, though it may feel frustrating when you don’t get answers to your questions immediately, all that may mean is that there’s no volunteer on hand to help.

THE BEST WAY TO GET QUICK SUPPORT IS TO CONTACT THE COMPANY YOU’RE ACTUALLY PAYING MONEY TO EVERY MONTH — which is BLUEHOST in your case. Hosting companies like BLUEHOST give you a place to keep your website — for a fee — and they’re usually the best place to turn if you have a problem. If BLUEHOST is unwilling or unable to help you, we can still help — but let’s put things in the right perspective.

George – thank you for your response – however I’m still not able to connect. I understand that you are all volunteers and I appreciate any help. However, the suggested codex.ww.wp.xz.cn link just does not work for me. All the steps begin with “logon to your admin” or something similar, and that is something I can not do, because of the issues I have shared. One of the codex links goes to a deleted page. It makes sense for me to go through Bluehost – I’ve been trying to resolve the issue with them for almost two weeks now – still no joy. I have filled out forms etc. for them but never get a response. It seems likely that they are emailing the responses to the email account I used when I set up the account, but I no longer have access to that email. In the Bluehost forms I fill out, I give them two different emails they

      could

use for me, but I receive nothing from them at either one. I even attached a .pdf of the receipt that Bluehost sent for the money I paid, and also a copy of an email that Bluehost sent me in August confirming the account. Enough whining. I simply don’t know what I can do next.

Sorry, but I’ll beg to disagree with the above statement. There are 7 ways outlined on that page to change your administrator password, and — only the first two involve logging in to WordPress or password being emailed to you. The remaining five, namely…

    – Through MySQL/MariaDB Command Line
    – Through phpMyAdmin
    – Through FTP
    – Through WP CLI
    – Using the Emergency Password Reset Script

… do not involve logging in to WordPress or password being emailed to you — though you need to have access to your hosting account and be able to follow the instructions (and I’ll admit this requires some technical know-how).

Do you have access to your BLUEHOST cPanel (hosting) account at all?
