  • Hi @alextmfv, hope you are doing well 🙂 To my knowledge, there is currently no way to remove priority from sitemap, simply because there is no tangible benefit from doing so. Can you please explain, why you want to remove sitemap priority and what are you hoping to achieve? Thanks!

In the meantime, I did a bit of digging. Why does TSF even has sitemap priority?
TSF follows Google’s recommendations/specifications as closely as possible. From Search Console Help:

Also, your sitemap can provide valuable metadata associated with the pages you list in that sitemap: Metadata is information about a webpage, such as when the page was last updated, how often the page is changed, and the importance of the page relative to other URLs in the site.

From my real–world experience — Google doesn’t really pay too much attention to sitemaps priority — rather, it focuses on lastmod. In fact, sitemaps in general are becoming less and less prominent in SEO, since Google is getting better in crawling. In turn, TSF doesn’t provide rigorous customization options to sitemap structure as well. It just takes care of it for you, and that is it pretty much it.

If you have a technically sound website (WordPress and TSF are mostly doing this for you automatically), I would recommend on making a great content rather that tweaking minuscule things that have virtually no impact on your rankings.

Here is some further reading if you are interested (1, 2, 3).

In any case, we are open to discussion!
