# Some plugins generate invalid XHTML

 * Hi I just ran the XHTML validator ( [http://validator.w3.org/](http://validator.w3.org/)),
   and i had 9 errors about ALT, HREF … beeing in uppercase, this is automatically
   generated code when i post images from the upload tab.
    what can be done to make
   image autoposting write in lowercase ?
 * And then i have the “SyntaxHighlighter” plugin to post nicely colored code.
    
   thing is i get 1 error : <pre name=”code” class=”java”> … there is no attribute“
   name”. What is a bit strange the validator seems to ignore all the other “pre
   name” . I dont really understand whats the problem is here.

 * Hi Flami,
    Perhaps a link to where the problem is happening would help. Also 
   I’m not 100% but I don’t believe that name attributes are allowed (based on standards)
   in a pre tag.

 * it is YOUR duty to ensure your site is XHTML valid and not the plugin because
   the validation is broken by both the theme and plugin (combination)

 * SyntaxHighlighter unfortunately has to validate invalid XHTML in order for the
   Javascript highlighting package it uses to work. It’s annoying, I know, but I
   don’t have a choice really.

   that validates valid XHTML

 * Please check the xhtml mod for syntaxhighlighter (javascript package), it now
   supports xhtml, the plugins can be adapted to it to solve xhtml problems. Note
   that this mod is for the syntaxhighlighter javascript package which is used by
   plugins.
