When I activated this plugin, I got this warning from my wordpress dashboard:

“The plugin generated 190 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.”

I worry that this means the plugin came with an extra payload (ie: hacked)

Please let us know what’s going on here ASAP

Nope, nothing nefarious or fishy about that and everything looks fine from the development log: https://plugins.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/log/sticky-side-buttons/

Happy to help you troubleshoot. Are you seeing any errors with the plugin functionality or elsewhere on your site as a result? Any errors in your console? Could you share a link to the site in question please?

OK. will you be updating the plugin so it doesn’t throw up a big red warning from WordPress ? Even though you say it’s benign, it doesn’t exactly instill confidence in the plugin’s code quality. (Not trying to be harsh here, but it’s reality. Think about how many people may have encountered this, uninstalled and moved on without complaining to you?)

Thing is, it’s not showing a big red warning for me or anyone else. This is the first and only report, so it’s highly likely to be specific to your environment. I’m very happy to help you troubleshoot to identify what’s causing the conflict, and to fix it. But you’ll need to share details like I mentioned:
