“Something went wrong, please try again”

    Hustle, Version 5.1.2

    When the form is filled and submitted we get a message “Something went wrong, please try again” instead of the confirmation. The data gets submitted and saved in the backend but the user just does not see a confirmation.

    This was tested on two instances of WP previously ie, development and staging and worked without any issue, once the plugin was installed and opt-in created with the same settings on the live site this is when we ran into this problem.

    We are not using any email service ie, just saving submission to WP only, and these are our Basic Settings: http://imgur.com/HCNOdvv

    I dont believe there are any theme or plugin conflicts as previously mentioned it was working in the dev/stage instances which are a duplicate of the live site, what could be the problem and what would be the steps to troubleshoot if we need to?

    Hi @aacik,

    I was doing some additional tests on different installations after my response and I was able to replicate the issue in the end.

    I have already created a report for this and notified our developers about it.

    Hi Predrag, there seems to be a new version of the plugin. I updated but the issue seems to be still present. Any idea when a fix will be out ?

    Hi @aacik,

    Saving subscriptions to local list was initially made to work as an addition to already selected mail service, it was not designed to work on it’s own and this is why you see this message.

    There will need to be some overhaul of that function in order to work on it’s own and that’s why it didn’t get included in latest release.

    For now you would need to use one of the subscription services together with local list to have it working.

    Hopefully we will see a change for this soon.

    Predrag, thanks for the explanation, although this seems to work fine on our development servers, which was what mainly caused some confusion.

    But based on what you are saying it should not be working at all.

    Yeah hoping there will be a solution sometime soon, but based on your response we know it might take some time or even not happen.

    Anyway please keep us posted if things change sooner,

    Hi @aacik,

    That’s strange, I tested this on couple of test installations I have and none of them worked without provider selected.
    Sorry for the silly question but are you sure that there’s no email provider selected on your dev servers? 🙂

    Yup the settings are identical and there is no email provider selected, but it works (well as we expect).

    It was tested on our development and staging WP instances which live on the same server, but does not work on our live server.

    Obviously from what you have been saying the fact that it works appears to be a bug, although a good bug 😉

    Wow, I must say I’m lost here, I tried every combination I could think of to see if it will work without email provider but no dice, nothing worked.

    I did notice during testing that emails are saved regardless of the error so as a “dirty” workaround until the fix is released could be using translation files to change fail message so it says something like “Your email has been added to our subscription list” 🙂
