SORTING BY LOCATION / AGE
-
Hello. First of all, I want to thank you for your BP Profile Search plugin. Also, I allow myself to contact you for a few questions:
For sorting by location, is it possible that when the member starts typing a location (city or postal code), on him offers directly on a list? Indeed, this can avoid mistakes.
How to get sorted by age. Example “from 19 years” “to 35 years”. For the moment, I have managed to do it but with the dates of birth and unfortunately it is less clear.
Finally, how to personalize the sorting fields? With mandatory CSS or do you have another method?
Thank you in advance.

Hello buddypresstest,
1. Make sure you enable Address Autocomplete in the Location Field Options box.
2. You correctly selected age range from the Search Mode drop-down, now you should change the search field label accordingly, e.g. “Age interval”.
3. Yes, you can use additional CSS or, if you can code, you can even write a new form template, as described in
Hello !
Thank you very much for your quick response. Sorry, I think I got the section wrong because I was talking to you about BP Profile Search and not your BP Distance Search plugin (on the forum) but you understood that so it’s perfect 🙂
1) I want to apologize, I was able to activate the autofill and now it works! Thank you
2) I am not sure I understood. I have created a new search field “Sort by age”. In “Search mode”, I put “age rank” but on the other hand in “field”, I linked it to the date of birth. In fact, I would like the member to enter their date of birth at registration, but then, members can search by age group but not by date of birth. You understand ? How to please?
3) Thank you for your link. That said, when I modify “jquery UI theme” and I refresh the page, I have no change … Is this normal?
4) What does “Persistent search” mean, I can’t see a difference if I activate it or not …
5) A banner appears in the plugin to tell me that a new plugin from your team has arrived “BuddyPress Members Directory Geolocation extension”. By clicking, I arrive on this site “https://geomywp.com/extensions/buddypress-members-directory-geolocation/”. Still, I thought it was a competitor? Was i wrong?
Hi buddypresstest,
No problem, sometimes the distinction between the two plugins is not apparent.
My comments on your points:
1) No problem!
2) Looking at your page, the form ‘Trier par âge’ actually searches by age group, based on the profile field ‘Date de naissance’. You only need to change the search field label (not the profile field name) from ‘Date de naissance’ to something else, e.g. ‘Age group’.
You could also search by date of birth, selecting range from the Search Mode drop-down, but you can’t have both at the same time.
3) When you have more than one search form on the same page, you need to select the same jquery UI theme for all of them, otherwise they will conflict.
4) That’s explained in the Help tab above the screen title:
* If enabled, a search is cleared when the user hits the Clear button
* If disabled, a search is cleared when the user hits the Clear button, or navigates away from the target directory5) That banner comes from GEO my WordPress, and BP Profile Search supports the search by location provided by GEO my WordPress.
BP Distance Search also provides a search by location, without other features. So you can choose one or the other according to your needs.
Hello !
Thank you very much for your response !
Thanks to you, everything works and I understood everything.
I have one last big problem … I had created a sort by location (which allowed to write an address with automatic proposals + the fact of being able to put 50, 100, 200 kilometers but overnight, everything s ‘is deleted ….
I find myself today with a field of ti “Location contains” which no longer automatically offers addresses and more, I no longer have the possibility of selecting the kilometers as before …
You told me to make this type of settings in “Location Field Options box” but I do not find these settings at all … (I was convinced that there was this field in “Users” – “Profile Search “- then in a frame under” Edit form “but it’s not there ….
I wanted to give you screen prints but this is not a possibility on this forum … So here is my site: https://piedspieds.whimpixel.fr/annuaire-membres-fetichistes-des-pieds/
Hi buddypresstest,
To go back to your former settings, try this:
1. Make sure that GEO my WordPress is active and BP Distance Search is not.
2. Remove the ‘Localisation’ field from your search form, save the form, then add the field back and save the form again.
Does it work?
I wrote you a long message to explain to you but in reality, the results are very random and the famous module of your plugin allowing to customize the localization appears once in two … I will carry out a few more tests before answering you in trying to reinstall the plugins.

Hello.
Thank you for your answer. I do not yet have the BP Distance Search extension.
To explain, by activating GEO My WordPress again, the module appeared again. (“Users” – “Profile search”). So I was able to activate (enabled) “Automatically complete the address” and put in “Department” (50,100,200,500).
My problem is that in any case, it still did not work at the sorting level on the website …:
– The fact of automatically completing the address does not work while it worked …
– The “radius”: 50, 100, 200, 500 no longer appears while it was working …
– Even if I type for example “07200 MERCUER” without being completed automatically, it does not work … (it is however a city of a test user). So I reinstalled GEO My WordPress but your module still did not appear. So I installed the geo my wordpress extensions “Members locator” and “BuddyPress Profile Search Geolocation”. By installing these two geo my wordpress extensions again, your personalization module has appeared again! So I set it up again but the sorting on the website still does not work …
Thank you in advance for helping me.
Information: it is mandatory that GEO My WordPress is activated? Because, to tell you the truth, I am not yet sure to use GEO My WordPress as a plugin for the map because it generates an error message on my site (it is for this reason that I ‘had disabled) … So I hesitate for the moment with another map plugin: BP Maps for members.

Hi buddypresstest,
If GEO My WordPress gives an error, it’s best to fix that before attempting to use it anyway.
BP Maps for Members is also supported by BP Profile Search, so the final choice is yours!
Please make sure you activate only one maps plugin at a time, because they can conflict with each other.

ok ! Thank You
I started from scratch, that is to say that I deleted the two extensions (GEO My WordPress and BP Profile search) and then reinstalled them. Now I no longer have an error message and the module allowing to check in particular “automatically complete the address” is clearly visible. I therefore reconfigure the sorting by age, sex and location on my site but the problem persists: I am not being offered to automatically complete the address … and besides, I have also entered a department “50,100,200,500” but it also no longer appears on the site … Finally, last element, if I want to fill in “Address Field Placeholder” in the administration, I also have no automatic suggestion of Google. However, I checked this option in the settings and my Google Maps identifiers are correct (besides, it worked very well a few days ago). Thanks for your help because I’m stuck
However, the location field for registration works perfectly with automatic suggestion (With BP xProfile Location)

Hi buddypresstest,
BP xProfile Location and GEO My WordPress both use Google Maps, so they may conflict.
If you are evaluating different location/maps plugins, I suggest you use them one at a time and then choose one for all your map and location needs.
The location/maps plugins compatible with BP Profile Search are, as far as I know (in no particular order):
* BP xProfile Location (doesn’t provide maps, just a location field)
* BP Maps for Members (requires BP xProfile Location)
* GEO My WordPress
* BP Distance Search (doesn’t provide maps, just a location field)
Hello. Thank you for your reply. I thought I said GEO My Wp was 100% compatible with your plugin. OK thank you. Good day to you
I’m not sure I understand, were you able to make it work or are you still having problems?
Unfortunately, I had big problems with your plugin. So I had to uninstall and I saw everything with the Geo My Wp suite. Thank you for your help and good luck.
You’re welcome, sorry it didn’t work for you.
All the best with your site!
