 * I’ve been running cleantalk’s spamfirewall for a while, and it does seem to block
the spam I was getting before. Recently though, it seems to be flagging legitimate
users (me!) I’ve seen the spamfirewall screen “SpamFireWall is checking your
browser and IP for spam bots” – please click the link below to pass the protection.
I never used to get this before, but now I see it fairly regularly. This alone
is a negative, the fact that I’m getting flagged as a potential bot, because
I fear many legitimate users in the future will be getting it too.
 * But worse, I accessed my site with Amazon Fire’s Silk Browser, and SpamFireWall
seems to be stuck in a do-loop of “Please click the line below to pass the protection”
with 3 sec countdown. The countdown gets to 0 then simply restarts -with no link
available to click and bypass-. Plus it’s listing an IP address that is not mine(?).
At first I thought Silk browser may be using a proxy/vpn, but if I go to a “what’s
my IP?” website, it shows my own IP, not what SpamFireWall is displaying! SpamFireWall
is showing “checking IP 151.106.8.108” – that is a France IP (I live in the US).
All I can guess is that it is somehow confusing my own session with that of a
   spam bot’s. Please help..

 * Hello [@savingyourtail](https://wordpress.org/support/users/savingyourtail/),
 * The “The countdown gets to 0 then simply restarts -with no link available to
click and bypass-. Plus it’s listing an IP address that is not mine (?).” issue
can be caused by your caching solution. Could you please try to purge all kinds
of website cache and recheck this issue?
 * You can also try changing the “Set cookies” option in the Anti-Spam plugin settings:
WordPress Admin Page —> Settings —> Anti-Spam by CleanTalk —> Advanced settings—
   > Set cookies option —> Set to “Store data in the website database (alternative
   mechanism)” —> Save Changes.
 * Did it help?

 * Thanks for the reply. The “loop” seems fixed now. Clearing all web caches may
   have fixed it.
 * Regarding regularly seeing the SpamFireWall pop-ups with the countdowns (not
referring to the loop issue): Currently my “set cookies” is OFF. I see this is
the recommended setting. Can you tell me what effects changingit to “Store data
in web database” would have? Will this reduce the number of SpamFireWall pop-
up screens users see? Does this have any effects on SpamFireWall’s effectiveness
   or on the database/site’s performance?

    1. Alternative mechanism will store data in database and will not set cookies in
browser, so the cache solutions will work just fine.
    2. You can read more about how the SpamFireWall option works here: [https://cleantalk.org/help/spamfirewall](https://cleantalk.org/help/spamfirewall)
    3. See point 1.
 * If clearing the cache helped, you can leave the cookie option to “Off”, but you
will need to change your cache plugin settings so your website pages will be
cached for 12 hours or less.
 * This means that your cache will be updated twice a day.

 * If I don’t have an easy way to set the pages to cache for 12 hours or less, would
you recommend I use the alternate mechanism to store data in the database instead
of setting the cookie option to Off? Are there any disadvantages/downsides to
using the alternate mechanism compared to the “Off” option? I assumed there are
some, otherwise Off would not be the default setting?

    1. Yes.
    2. As I said, our data will be stored in a database. You can perceive it as a disadvantage
       or as a downside.
    3. See point 2.

 * Same problem here. We’ve used CleanTalk for several now for our e-commerce website
and since last week all our customers are getting the “SpamFireWall is checking
your browser and IP…” page. Waiting for the countdown doesn’t work. And clicking
on the “link below” doesn’t work either. Is this due to a recent update? Which
settings should we be tinkering with please? We are losing sales because of this.
   Thank you.

 * Hello [@wildeones](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wildeones/).
 * For a quick fix, disable SpamFireWall and clear the site’s cache. WordPress Admin
Page → Settings → Anti-Spam by CleanTalk → disable the “SpamFireWall” → Save
Changes. It’s an additional feature, the main part of the anti-spam protection
   will still work.

 * Hi Eugene, thank you for the reply and sorry for the delay in mine. I have followed
your instructions and disabled SpamFireWall and it seems to be fine now.
 * However we are getting an insane amount of spam messages through our contact
form. I will start a new ticket for that shortly.
