Spammers register every day.

I have a rather strange problem. I have a website which is not even completed yet. I have the setting to allow users to register in order to comment.

I also used a custom field which required users to enter numbers in order to complete registration. I aborted it because every day two or three persons were registering.

Now I use a required invitation code instead and I still get a few registrations per day. I didn’t give the invitation code to anyone and in spite of that I get new registrations every day. I didn’t show the website to anybody, not to mention people from abroad.

So what’s going on? Is there a bug which allows people to register even when they don’t know the invitation code?

The plugin used for security is ‘sabre’.
