This really isn’t a WordPress issue but there may be a fix, or a work around that someone (smarter then me) may know about.
    Here’s the issue.
Installed SSL on a WordPress site this past weekend not thinking about the non SSL content that was already on the site for the streaming of Podcast audio from a non-ssl url.

Of course the SSL cert blocks the insecure content and the podcast player does not display and the podcasts can’t be played. I can’t be the first person in the WordPress world to face this issue and I’m hoping someone else in the WordPress universe has experienced and fixed this issue. Maybe a plug in recommendation, or an htaccess hack. I don’t know. Just pretty frustrated at this point – when the best laid plans as they say.

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

It’s actually the browser that blocks HTTP elements on an HTTPS page.

My recommendation, if you don’t want to search/replace all of your links to HTTPS, is to keep your site HTTP. If visitors want to force HTTPS in their own browser’s settings, then their browser will make *everything* HTTPS thus bypassing the traditional problem.

Roger that James. Confirmed as much this morning. Knew it already but forgot it. We’re removing the certificate until Podomatic gets with the program. Thank you for your reply
