    Hello @airlesscenter,

The (second) error message means that Really Simple SSL could not reach the “really-simple-ssl-permissions-check.txt” file.

You can either remove the limitation that prevents the plugin from opening this file, or click the “DNS Verification” button to switch to the DNS Verification method.

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hello @airlesscenter,

If you see the error that Really Simple SSL was unable to reach the “really-simple-ssl-permissions-check.txt” file, this is most-likely due to a limitation that prevents the plugin from checking the file’s availability. It could be that the hosting company blocks the cURL request that performs this check.

If that is the case, you should see a button to switch to “DNS Verification” while you are on the Directories step of the Wizard. You can then refer to this article for instructions on how to add a TXT record to your DNS settings: https://really-simple-ssl.com/how-to-add-a-txt-record-to-dns/

    Hope it helps!
    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi @airlesscenter,

If you share the error message, that would allow us to tell what the most-likely cause of the error message would be.

I expect that the DNS record either hadn’t been added yet (usually, your hosting control panel will have a DNS section where the DNS records can be updated). If you had already added the record, note that on some occasions it can take a few hours (or even longer) before the DNS cache is cleared.

    Hope this helps!
    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hello @airlesscenter,

I checked the website in question and you now have a valid SSL certificate installed, which is being enforced by Really Simple SSL.

The remaining notices in the Dashboard can therefore safely be ignored, as you have successfully renewed your SSL certificate.

    Hope this helped!

    Kind regards,
    Jarno
