 * Forgive me as I am not an expert in website design, but have the task of fixing
   our website.
 * The problem is that the standard wordpress search option presents results that
   look similar to the layout of our website pages, and so user of the search option
   are confused, thinking that they have reached a webpage, when in fact they are
   only looking at their search results. People have undoubtedly become accustom
   to search results presented the way google does (i.e. without an accompanying
   picture).
 * Is there a way to modify how the search results are presented?

 * Which theme are you working with? You can have your own reasons to do this, but
   technically people are actually looking at a page within your website; a search
   results page that uses a search results template.
