 * Hey all,
 * We’ve been using Movable Type for some blogs and we’re now getting ready to upgrade
to MT 3. However, I suggested that we check out WordPress as I was pretty impressed
with some of the features. However, we have one very important requirement that
we would need to duplicate from our current environment. Basically, we want to
have the server where people post behind a firewall and then have the blog server
publish static files to public web servers.
 * I’ve been searching around and I saw a few plugins and forthcoming features related
to managing or publishing static pages but I have been unable to determine if
the above scenario is possible without a great deal of pain. Anyone have any
pointers here? BTW, I do realize that a central design feature of WordPress is
that the pages are dynamic but the ability to publish statically is pretty much
   required for us.
 * Thanks in advance for any help.

 * Ummm…. find a different tool. WP doesn’t produce static pages (specifically html)
in the manner you are looking for. The “static” pages you’ve seen in WP discussions
are a different animal. People wanted to include static stuff (about me, email
me, etc) into their site. That’s what those plugins are about. As far as I know
there isn’t a way to generate static HTML out of WP short of viewing the page
and doign a “File | Save As..” on it.

 * Why not a modification to “Create New Page” where one could enter a URL instead
of page content? The remaining fields wouldn’t have any effect on it, but some
could be useful. Page Title would function as the title for the page in the Pages
list and Page order would let WP know how to sort it.

 * Ignore that last. It is relevant, but I explained it better in another post.
