 * Hi,
 * I have run a page speed insights test and I’m still getting complaints about:
 * Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content”
 * /cache/wpfc-minified/9km632dsfkg/80fzj.js
    ..etc /cache/wpfc-minified/de7ynpcj/
   e17d4.css ..etc
 * They all seem to be within the /cache directory?
 * Is there a way of removing this? Is this an issue, if so how would I go about
   fixing it?
 * Many thanks

 * you seem to be using 2 plugins to do minification (AO and WP Fastest Cache),
   which is advised against. if you want to use AO then I would suggest you disable
   minification in WPFC (which is a great page caching plugin).
 * at hat point you’ll see the *real* files that are render-blocking, which will
   probably by your AO’ed CSS and jquery.js.
 * for the AO’ed CSS look into “inline & defer” (more info in [the AO FAQ](https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/#faq)).
   for jQuery you can try to remove `js/jquery/jquery.js` from AO’s JS optimization
   exclusions, after which you’ll have to test your site thoroughly to make sure
   all still works (if not just roll-back your change).
 * hope this clarifies,
    frank

 * Hi,
 * Thanks for the reply.
 * I have disabled the minification from Fastest Cache for JS and CSS. Then cleared
   and deleted the cache. The plugin is still active.
 * From AO I have removed the line `js/jquery/jquery.js` and I don’t get that JS
   issue now. However…
 * I then run Page Speed Insights test and it still complains about the following:
 * Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
 *     ```
       https://sitenamehere/cache/wpfc-minified/diihqr4g/fntu8.css
       https://sitenamehere/cache/wpfc-minified/7b25y102/fntu8.css
       ```
 * Do I need to add the two lines above into the “inline and defer” textarea box?
   Not too sure what I should be adding in here to be honest.
 * I don’t see any other results / complaints other than ones in /cache.
 * Hope you can advise.
 * Thank you
 * this
 * > [https://sitenamehere/cache/wpfc-minified/diihqr4g/fntu8.css](https://sitenamehere/cache/wpfc-minified/diihqr4g/fntu8.css)
 * indicates that Google Pagespeed insight somehow still sees WP Fastest Cache minified
   code, either minification is still active or there is (extra?) page caching that
   still needs clearing (your hoster?).
 * for inline & defer, have a look at this video;
 * Ok, ive removed the fastest cache plugin – as you probably don’t need both.
 * Now I have got the “real” results back from the “Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript
   and CSS in above-the-fold content”
 * It shows all the CSS from /cache/autoptimise…css
 * However when following the video I have 11+ CSS files, how do I know which one
   to copy over to that tool?
 * My site is my username dot com.
 * Im still in the yellow/orange for the results on page speed. Lot more of those
   errors for mobile, only the one on desktop, scoring 62
 * Thanks for the info / help, really appreciate it
 * EDIT: There are too many css files to go through, can this plugin merge them
   all into one so It makes it easier to fix the above? I’m at a lost end with this,
   as you can tell i am not techy lol
 * not entirely correct; you really need the page caching features of WPFC (or from
   another plugin).
 * > However when following the video I have 11+ CSS files, how do I know which
 * when AO is running, you’ll probably only have between 1 and 3 CSS left, 1 of
   which will be considerably bigger, use the contents of that one 🙂
      Reason: add remark on need for page caching
 * Ok, ill re-enable that, and just untick minify HTML,CSS and JS.
 * I have followed the above video and done it on the first main big CSS file (Out
   of 11). This resulted in:
 * Approximately 61% of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered.
 * Still complaining about my theme styles AVADA get styles.
 * Will i need to follow the same process for the other 10 css files?? As all the
   videos i have watched all have just the one css file at the top, i have 11?
 * Thanks
 * EDIT: Throwing up more errors now
 * Your page requires additional network round trips to render the above-the-fold
   content. For best performance, reduce the amount of HTML needed to render above-
   the-fold content.
 * 116.6KiB of the HTML response was required to render the above-the-fold content.
   This requires 4 network round-trips. Prioritize the above-the-fold content so
   that it can be rendered with only the first 3 round-trips’ worth of HTML.
 * I see, you have an exceptional high number of AO’ed CSS files due to the original
   CSS having different media attirbutes. best option will be to try some another
   critical CSS tool (see FAQ for other links), one that does not require you to
   copy/ paste the original CSS. I prefer criticalcss.com, but that’s a paying solution..
 * I don’t mind paying if it works.
 * How come there are so many css files and not just the one which combines them
   all?
 * When i run the pagespeed insights, it does say that above the fold optimisation
   has worked?
 * Thanks for your help again.
 * One last thing, I have noticed when I change settings within my theme AVADA settings
   ie: turning font awesome off. Then i come back to it later and all the settings
   i changed have reverted. Im thinking this is a cache issue.
 * Is this setting right for:
 * Exclude CSS from Autoptimize:
    wp-content/cache/, wp-content/uploads/, admin-
   bar.min.css, dashicons.min.css
 * ^ Should they be there or should it be blank?
 * check with your hoster, could be an issue with object/ database caching in e.
   g. redis or memcached
 * those are the default values, but you can play around with them is you want 🙂
 * Sorry again, I don’t know whats going on here, but I now have over 9 files saying:
 * Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
 * I haven’t done anything different, any ideas why this might be?
 * website username dot com
 * All within:
    cache/autoptimize/css/…autoptimize_1a994456dc5ce176f19d107b0b13a59e.
   css
 * Hope you can help, not techy at all, it’s stressing me out.
 * well, google pagespeed insight is a black box and results aren’t always consistent.
   you’ll have to re-visit critical css generation, indeed using another tool.
 * I have tried all the others and for some reason they make my grid 2 columns instead
   of 3 so none of them work.
 * I ticked the option to inline all css, which seems to give me a better score
   and minimise that issue, not sure if its the right thing to do though.
