 * Hi,
 * I use WooCommerce and a bunch of other plugins, as well as loco translate to
   translate or change wordings in(to) our default language.
 * I have the following questions:
    In order to communicate with our website to
   our users the best, I have changed some strings/wording of WooCommerce with loco
   translate. But: if I get an update of the language file, it overwrites all my
   changes and as a result, the default content appears again. All my work is lost.
   Can I stop the sync process of the language files just for some plugins (i.e.
   WooCommerce)? All other plugins can be updated with a new language version as
   normal. How can I do this? Can I change somewhere the settings that a new language
   version should only fill in empty fields and not overwrite fields which have
   already some content/wording in it? How can I do this?
 * Thank you for your support
 * Regards,
    Philipp

 * Loco Translate does not control translation file auto-updates. It’s a WordPress
   feature.
 * Please see the following FAQ for avoiding overwrites of your custom files saved
   using Loco Translate: [https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/faqs/files-deleted](https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/faqs/files-deleted)

 * Hi,
 * Thank you for your feedback. It is now clear that I can stop auto sync for just
   some plugins. To achieve this, I need to save the content files of the plugins
   in wp-content/languages/loco/
 * How does it work? Can I save the content file into the right path with the loco
   translate plugin? If so, how?
    Do I need to copy/paste it with the FTP file server
   program? If so, how does wordpress know which file to take (original one or the
   new one in another path)? I assume somewhere in the settings needs to save that
   the actual content file is to find at another path Can I save the content files
   of varies plugins all into one folder of wp-content/languages/loco/ or do I need
   to structure it (i.e. with folders of plugin names)?
 * Thank you for your support
 * Regards,
    Philipp

 * This is documented in the help pages. Please see “choosing a location”
    [https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/manual/msginit](https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/manual/msginit)
 * > how does wordpress know which file to take (original one or the new one in
   > another path)?
 * Loco Translate includes a “loading helper” which controls this. See “notes on
   loading order” in above link.
 * Not all plugins will allow this to work. If you have a problem, see this FAQ:

   [https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/faqs/custom-folder](https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/faqs/custom-folder)
 * > Can I save the content files of varies plugins all into one folder of wp-content/

 * Loco Translate will organise this folder automatically, but you can specify your
   own custom locations in the bundle configuration if you need to. See advanced
   configuration: [https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/manual/bundle-config](https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/manual/bundle-config)
