 * I have 6 images in my Gallery. I have inserted that Gallery (therefore, those
6 images) below the text on my Home page. That works fine.
 * Now I want to insert _Our-Doctors.jpg_ from my computer above the text on my
Home page with the _Add an Image_ button. When I select the file and upload it,
the file name and dimensions are correct; but the image is a cropped version
of the file I uploaded. Additionally, the count in my Gallery goes from 6 to
7 (this cropped image goes into the Gallery).
 * I then click on _Edit Image_. Now I see the correct version of _Our-Doctors.jpg_
as well as the cropped version in the _Thumbnail Settings_ section.
 * If I _Insert Into Post_, the correct _Our-Doctors.jpg_ goes into the page where
I want it; but the previously inserted gallery now has an extra image in it —
   fouling everything up.
 * How do I get rid of this maverick image in my gallery?

 * Upload it via Media -> Add New.
