 * Using multi-site (Wish I hadn’t – only have one site and it’s complicated.)
    
   gold-wars.com. Problem – I need to use a different theme for a squeeze page /
   opt-in landing page than I use on the rest of my site.
 * I can’t get my subdomain to work – is there an easier way to get a theme for 
   a single page?

 * It’s pretty complicated, too. I have to figure out how to do a child theme, but
   the instructions are not for multi-site.
    So, I’m already blocked at the first
   step. what do I do?

 * You said you wanted something EASIER than multisite which I took to mean _instead
   of_ Multisite. A page template is (relatively) easier. And yes you can use it
   on Multisite.
 * If you can’t make a child theme, though, don’t use Multisite. You’re not ready.

 * Thanks for the advice, but I’m already set up and running on multi-site. I don’t
   what else to do. Is it possible to migrate to single site?

 * You have options.
 * 1) Undo Multisite: [http://wpmututorials.com/how-to/how-to-disable-multisite/](http://wpmututorials.com/how-to/how-to-disable-multisite/)
 * 2) Keep Multisite and use a custom front page (which by the way, has nothing 
   to do with Multisite at all, and is standard WP stuff)
