# Subscribe error

 * I’m getting the same error as [this support post.](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/subscribe-error-1)
 * When I enter an email into the subscription box it does not send it. A small 
   window opens and says: “There was a problem with the request”. What’s wrong?
 * I tried uncommenting //alert(xmlHttp.readyState);
    //alert(xmlHttp.responseText);
   but I am still getting the same alert – “There was a problem with the request.”
 * I am using the shortcode implementation with [email-newsletter-plugin].
