 * Let me see if I can explain this succinctly. I just finished transitioning from
WordPress.com to WordPress.org, and everything seemed to be OK with my subscribers.
Upgraded to WP 6.3 yesterday. This morning I got a message that I had been disconnected
from Jetpack. I reconnected. Everything seemed pretty much OK.
   But I’m concerned
about what may have happened to my subscribers. As far as I can tell, they all
seem to be there. (I wish I could grab a spreadsheet of them, as I could with.
com.) But after I didn’t get an email this morning after I posted something,
I subscribed using the subscribe button on my site. When I checked at the subscription
manager, I saw that I had been added as a new WordPress Reader subscriber, not
an email reader — which is not what I thought the subscribe button was supposed
   to do.
 * Then I tried again using my Yahoo burner account. Got an email, verified it —
and nothing at the subscription manger.
 * So I don’t know what’s going on.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fsubscription-problems-5%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi [@dkennedy56](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dkennedy56/)
 * (Yes, it’s the same Bruce Allen)
 * Congrats on the move to .org!
 * Right now your site is showing as NOT connected to Jetpack.
 * While your site is publicly accessible, we cannot access your site’s XML-RPC
   file:
 * This file is used by Jetpack and other plugins and apps to connect to your site.
It must return the following message:
    - `XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.`
 * You can see a working example here:
 * Right now, that page on your site just displays a blank white page. I would recommend
   that you check the following:
    - Can you see the /xmlrpc.php file at the root of your WordPress installation
when accessing your site via FTP? If you don’t, then please try re-installing
WordPress. You can do this by going to the Dashboard -> Upgrades page, then
      click the “Reinstall” button.
    - Do you use any security plugins that may block access to this file? If so,
could you try to disable them? You might also want to check your site’s .htaccess
file for any rules that might be blocking access to the xmlrpc.php file.
    - Does your hosting provider block access to this file? If you don’t find any
plugin that may block access to the file on your site, I would recommend that
you get in touch with your host.
 * Once we are able to access your site’s xmlrpc.php file, please try to reconnect
   your site:
    - [https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reconnecting-jetpack](https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reconnecting-jetpack)
 * As for your subscribers, they do all seem to be there, and I do see your burner
Yahoo address listed as a “pending” email subscriber, meaning that the account
has not confirmed the subscription. (An email is sent to the account with a link
to click to confirm.) Let’s get your Jetpack connection straightened out, and
then we can tackle the subscribers.
 * (We can also merge the traffic stats from your old WordPress.com site into your
new Jetpack site, let us know if you want to do that.)

 * Hi, Bruce —
 * Fancy meeting you here! Thank you for this really helpful, detailed response.
My son is helping me with the transition, so some of this is mystifying. (OK,
all of it is mystifying.) I haven’t used FTP for years. I’ll try playing around
with this to the extent that I can, but I’m going to shy away from doing anything
that seems like it might be harmful. My son might have some time to give to this
soon, but he’s in the middle of a big job.

 * Bruce, my son has been so busy with his photography business that I haven’t been
able to try these steps yet. But I did install an upgrade of Jetpack, and things
seem more normal. Users are signing up for email delivery without any problem,
and I can now see all my subscribers. Maybe it resolved itself with the upgrade?

 * Glad to hear you sorted it out [@dkennedy56](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dkennedy56/).
Indeed, using the latest version of Jetpack helps to ensure it’s working properly
and with the latest security updates. I’ll pass on your kind words to Bruce.

 * I would like to know why I can’t seem to get the emails delivered to any of my
email addresses and what I can do to change that. They’re stuck somewhere — how
can I flush them out? Thank you.

 * We’ve noted that some email providers, Gmail in particular, like to put our emails
in a bulk folder, such as “social” or “updates.” – can you take a look in those,
as well as spam, to make sure they’re not in one of those?

 * That’s not the issue. I got rid of Google’s extra folders years ago.

 * Hi Dan,
 * Let’s back up a step, which emails are you not receiving? All of them? Emails
about new posts and comments? Signups? Which ones are you expecting to receive
but are not? I went back through our logs and see over 30 emails sent you over
the last three weeks or so. These were comment notifications, notices of new
posts, and new likes and followers.

 * I’m getting emails about activity on the site — new comments, comments that need
to be moderated, new subscribers. But I tried signing up as if I was a would-
be subscriber, using three different email addresses, and I’m not getting any
of my posts delivered by email. I also don’t seem to be in the database of subscribers.
