# sudden REST API error : http_request_failed

 * Hello, Site health status tool shows me this error today:
 * The REST API request failed due to an error.
    Error: cURL error 35: OpenSSL SSL_connect:
   Connection reset by peer in connection to example.com:443 (http_request_failed)
 * I don’t remember making any change to the site in the last two days aside from
   uploading a small-sized HTML file to site root for the google search console 
   verification process, I don’t think that may have any impact on the site, or 
   not?
 * I will appreciate if anyone could help with this problem.

 * The site ownership verification file would not be the cause. See if your SSL 
   certificate had expired. It could be the cause of a failed SSL connection.
