• I really hate how you set a date for Classic Editor to end on Dec 31, 2021 “The end of this year”

I do not like Live Editors, I rather just use Classic Editor & TinyMCE. Works well, and the design is flawless. Please continue to support it definitely. PLEASE DO NOT KILL Classic Editor!

Well, I guess I cannot edit my own post. No biggy, I’ll just past my edit here 🙂

I hope Classic Editor will never stop being supported. It works great and I rather this design over live editors. It’s perfect with TinyMCE.

I saw the original post said it would end on Dec 31, 2021 “The end of this year”

    Classic Editor Plugin Support Window

I’m glad it says here “at least 2022, or as long as is necessary” Unfortunately you still added an expiry date. I do not want to be forced ever to use Gutenberg. I want this to be permanently supported. Soon as this ends up being no longer supported, other plugin developers will stop supporting it as well. Sure someone may take over but what’s the point if other plugins you use that worked with it no longer do. That would unfortunately suck 🙁

I like the layout, it works great, it’s fast and right now supported. The way I want! I’m sure others agree. Keep it running 😉

Thanks for reading and hope to see this continue for years to come!
    Have a great day!

About to start a new website. Since there is no guarantee that Classic Editor will be supported after 2021 I believe I’ll go and take a look at ‘ClassPress’ or something else. Pretty much done with WP at this point. And Gutenberg was just the last straw. I guess WP decided meritocracy was less valuable than diversity.

It’s definitely unfortunate. They want to kill yet, yet we want it to permanently stay alive and it’s one of the top best plugins. Would be a complete slap to the face for all customers of WordPress that need it. Want it.

Please, PLEASE do not retire Classic Editor. I do not like the block editors and neither do my clients. I like the simpler code in Classic Editor and I like to be able to edit the code easily. The blocks are hit or miss if the browser is slow and the block editor interface is not intuitive. It is much harder to train clients to use block editors.

Same. I write articles, not landing pages. Block editors slow me down and interfere with the process. Many features, like word count and the permanent URL when you’re editing existing posts, that are right there in Classic are a couple of clicks away in Gutenberg. It’s more clicks to edit HTML, too, which is something I have to do fairly often. And a lot of people who love block editors do not like Gutenberg. If WordPress or the devs for plugins I need stops supporting Classic, we’ll need a new third-party editor plugin that works like TinyMCE. Gutenberg should have been a plug-in.

Please don’t force whole community to use Gutenberg even when no one like it.

    Folks:

Your customers (users) do not like Gutenberg to the tune of more than 5 million plus users.

Listen to your customers. They don’t like Gutenberg.

Perhaps the developers like Gutenberg but this is a classic way to lose customers. this is how you destroy businesses. Force things on your customers they don’t want.

Give people what they want. Don’t dictate to them what they must have.

Wordpress grew into standard using the classic style. Don’t change a winning game.

What is more important? Your developers’ convenience or keeping users? The answer is obvious.

If WordPress does not continue the classic editor and update it, I’m gone and quite likely I’ll be accompanied by 5 million others.

Furthermore, I want to concentrate on content … not spend a bunch of time I don’t have to go to Gutenberg. I spend too much time with technical stuff now. I don’t have time to learn a new editor which I don’t like.

Again, who is more important … your customers or developer convenience? Go only to Gutenberg and I guarantee you’ll destroy the franchise.

This is a licence to destroy the whole WordPress customer base and the program itself.

Seriously I’m gone if classic editor ends. I will not be person who turns out the lights at WordPress.

Abandon Classic and you destroy WordPress. Simple as that.

    cheers

    Ken Gray

I strongly support the posts urging you to PLEASE continue to support the Classic Editor. I’m 76 with 3 WP sites and I really can’t face learning a completely new editor. I’d abandon the sites instead.
