I use this plugin which works great for adding quick Amazon product links to my site.

However, I have heard that there are some Amazon Plugins that have the ability to somehow extend the cookie time from the normal 24 hours to 90 days? Not sure how this works, or if it is even allowed under the Amazon Associated TOS, but wanted to know if there is an ability to do that with this Plugin, or if anyone knows how this is done and if it is even “legal”. It looks like some of the ‘Paid/premium’ plugins advertise this capability, but I don’t really know much about them.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The plugin currently supports links to the product pages, review pages and search results. These will all trigger the usual 24hour cookie.

The template ‘add to cart’ will take the user to an Amazon Add to Cart page, where the visitor can chose to add the item to their Amazon Cart. If they do then this will set up the 90 day dookie.

There is no option in the plugin to automatically add items to a visitor’s Amazon cart without any prompting. Not sure this is a good user experience!

    Hope this helps,

    Paul

    Ok.. Thanks for the explanation!

    One more question however.

Is there a way in the plugin to automatically set the Amazon Affiliate links that are generated all as “nofollow”

I have been told I should have any affiliate links on my site set as “nofollow”.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

All the links should already contain rel="nofollow", are you seeing any without?

I just didn’t see the option in the plugin, so wasn’t sure if I missed it or not.

I just use the shortcodes and put them in the posts, so I don’t see the actual HTML code.

But if you say it is already set, then that is good enough for me!

    Thanks.
