 * I have Site Origin Widget Bundle and and Site Origin Page Builder activated but
   the edit page format is as shown below, even with all other plugins deactivated:
 * [https://snipboard.io/xkbWFa.jpg](https://snipboard.io/xkbWFa.jpg)
 * I have also lost my top menu and have limited functionality on ‘manage menus’
   so cannot rebuild them.
 * This all occurred after I noticed I could not upload images or text. Further
   investigation revealed that my WordPress version was really outdated and the
   reason I was unaware was because the server was running an outdated version of
   PHP. Requested update of PHP from hosting company and this is what happened when
   they did so.
 * All help appreciated
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fsuspectsite-origin-plugins-are-notfunctioning%2Fpage%2F4%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * The media issue is as shown
 * [https://snipboard.io/xvrKqh.jpg](https://snipboard.io/xvrKqh.jpg)
 * If I was to select one of the grey squares, the image can be seen in the media
   file (complete with attributes), but only the caption will appear on the page
   in which it is embedded.

 * Thanks, there are a few possible causes for this such as a plugin conflict or
   a file permissions issue:

 * I notice that one of the linked documents refers to updating your core files?
 * Where do you do that?

 * Via FTP or Hosting File Manager. If they’re referring to updating the core, it
   should be done carefully. There is a post on it here [https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/ultimate-guide-to-upgrade-wordpress-for-beginners-infograph/](https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/ultimate-guide-to-upgrade-wordpress-for-beginners-infograph/),
   see method two.

 * Recognising that I am probably overstaying the very welcome support you have
   given I’ll try my luck.
 * I have tried all the options outlined in the two links you sent me to fix my
   blank thumbnails. De-activating all plugins, changing the theme to 2021 and reloading
   WordPress 5.7 makes no difference. I have tried to reconfigure the file permissions
   using FTP, but may have made the situation worse because my FTP display is slightly
   different to the one in the guidance notes. All thumbnails are greyed out in
   Media Grid View.
 * This is my FTP display with 644:

 * and with 744

 * Hi Neil
 * I think I saw running Regenerate Thumbnails in one of those posts, you could
   give that a try. [https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/).

 * It should be able to complete. You can perhaps enable debug and debug log as
   per [https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-set-up-wordpress-error-logs-in-wp-config/](https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-set-up-wordpress-error-logs-in-wp-config/)
   and see if any relevant errors are writing to the debug.log file in wp-content.

 * No apparent bugs and now my page format has gone again. One single column on
   every page rather than two columns (page builder function)

 * If something is breaking Page Builder functionality all of the previous troubleshooting
   steps we’ve followed would apply.
 * Check for JavaScript console errors.
    Enable debug and debug log, check for relevant
   errors in the PHP error log file. Deactivate all non SiteOrigin plugins, switch
   to a default theme.

 * There are several possible causes for 403 errors, file permissions are one of
   them. Please, see [https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-403-forbidden-error-in-wordpress/](https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-403-forbidden-error-in-wordpress/).
   Perhaps start with the file permissions heading a bit further down the post.
