The old version stopped working so I started using the new version posted at http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/plugin-backupwordpress-not-working-manually-or-automated/page/2?replies=31. However upon installing it my backups are also suspciously small. Usually it’s around 3gb but these new backs are 2mb.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
Hi Guys,
Would you be so kind as to try out the beta version of 1.3 you can download it from http://downloads.wp.xz.cn/plugin/backupwordpress.zip
Meanwhile, the old folder, ‘backup’ has been deleted with some help (changing rights) from my hosting provider.
Now, I get the message:
BackUpWordPress is almost ready. Your backups directory isn’t writable. run chown -R apache:apache /var/www/vhosts/beeldbuijs.nl/httpdocs/blog/wp-content/backups or chmod -R 777 /var/www/vhosts/beeldbuijs.nl/httpdocs/blog/wp-content/backups or set the permissions yourself.
I’m not sure, but it could be that my hosting provider has changed this. So I will delete the /backups dir, un-install BackUpWordPress and install the 1.3 beta.
— later —
I had to look up how to install it manually but it is making a new backup now! It says my site is 29 MB. I guess this could be true.. What do you think?
That sounds fine.
Version 1.2 was far less accurate at guesstimating the backup size.
Also I have released version 1.3 so you should be able to auto update to it.
NOW you tell me 😉
The first backup is ready and it’s 18 something MB. My wp site is not that big so as far as I know this could be true.
I assume it just backs up the unique content (images, pages), not the wp basis and plugins?
That file size sounds reasonable
The plugin backs up everything, database & all files and folders in your site root.
I updated to 1.3 and did a manual backup. However the download was still suspiciously small. My host is Site5 and ever since may 19th I’ve been having issues with this plugin. Any suggestions for a fix? Thanks again for your help on this and the plugin
Have you downloaded one of the backups and checked to see if it includes all your files?
What makes you think it’s too small?
What other issues have you been having?
I think it’s too small because usually my backups are around 3GB. These new backups are 3MB.
This is the only issue I’m having. The backup sizes are too small to be actual backups of my site.
I checked the backup and it looks good 🙂 I like the comfort of being able to download a backup. This is functionality that should be build in if you ask me. Most people don’t think or care of backups until it’s too late.
Laptopleon:
I’m not 100% sure what you mean about the functionality being build(t?) in. The ability to download files is built in already.
cybernaga595: Could you download one of your backup files and compare it’s contents to the contents of your, I’d like to know whats missing as there shouldn’t be anyway for things to be missed out unless your have manually excluded them or the file / folder is unreadable.
I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear. English is not my native language and I only use it online. I meant that I feel that wordpressbackup should be build… eh… built into / added to the default set of plug-ins of WordPress.
So I downloaded and checked. My wordpress installation is wordpress multisite. In the past this plugin would download all my sites into one backup. Now however it’s only backing up one of them (one of my smaller sites).
I think what happened is that the plugin stopped looking at the entire database of site, and just focused on one of them. Any suggestions on how i can revert that, so it backups up everything and not just one site?
