# Swapping servers

 * Hi, I am going to create a WordPress website for my friend but I want to create
   it at the same time as having his previous one live.
 * Is there any way I can set up WordPress on my own server, complete the whole 
   website, then change it over when its finished?
 * I am talking about a straight server install of WordPress, not wordpress.org.
 * Please advise me with the best option to go for.

   You might find it easier to install the new site in a sub-folder on your friend’s
   server and then see [Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory](http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install).
