 * Hello,
 * I can’t manage for the plugin not to erase my customized multiple roles.
 * Would it be possible to either not apply the default role OR to apply multiple
   roles (so at least I could re-import those) when importing into the user base?
 * Thanks

 * Hi [@nipa42](https://wordpress.org/support/users/nipa42/) ,
 * Thanks for your message.
 * At the moment, the plugin can only **assign a single role per user** during the
   import/sync process. This means that when a user is created or updated, the role
   defined in the mapping will be applied and can **override existing roles**, which
   explains why your customized multiple roles are being erased.
 * Unfortunately, it’s currently **not possible** to:
    - disable the default role assignment entirely, or
    - assign **multiple roles** to a user via the plugin.
 * If supporting multiple roles during import is critical for your workflow, this
   would require a **custom development**, which we can discuss if you’re interested.
 * Let us know how you’d like to proceed, and we’ll be happy to advise.
 * Kind Regards,
 * Cristian

 * Thanks for your answer.
 *
   I solved my problem by using the plugin to import the multiple roles into a
   custom field and assigning a generic role instead. Then, after each import, I
   run a simple piece of code that, for each users, adds the roles from that field
   and removes the generic role. It’s a two-step process, but it’s transparent.
   And works in our case.
 * Cheers
