• Ok, so I’ve read just about all the comments relating to the question but I still cannot figure this out and I need to fixed asap!!! I am getting a unexpected syntax error within my functions.php file so i cannot log in to wordpress. i do not have access to the hosting parent for the site i am working on (they’re using godaddy to host the site), so setting up on filezilla isn’t such an easy task. can someone PLEASE help me?!?!!

  • If you can’t get into the backend, then you need FTP access or access to the files from the cPanel. You need this access, there is no other way to fix this.

    Hi empire, if your theme has an error in functions.php file, you can have full errors like that.

    Quick fix suggestions:

    1) change theme, but you can’t now
    2) replace function.php file the last theme you tried by some function.php like the one in Twenty two or Twenty five (included in every wordpress download in wp-content/themes/so on..). But like juggle says it requires you to get the FTP access (from your web admin or so).
    3) For further edits, please save all files and dabatase in a little folder at hand, before you change something. So that you always have a backup at hand.
