Tag Widget Trouble

    I have some widgets that are acting funny. They were working fine and then all of the sudden after making some updates they stopped working. I was using the default tag cloud widget for categories and tags in a sidebar. The goal is to list all of my tags and categories in the sidebar for my blog.

    Something went wrong and all of the sudden they stopped displaying. The tag widget now is only showing tags for the current post. The blog homepage was showing all of the tags, but the sidebar for the single post is only showing tags/categories for that specific post.

    Right now these pages are private so I can’t give you a link, but any ideas on what could cause this?

    Also, when I edit a post and try and add tags by clicking on “Choose from the most used tags,” it says that no tags are found. however, I can see that all of my tags are there if I go to the POSTS>TAGS area.

    Update your themes, all plugins and see if the problem persists. If the problem still persists, update WordPress too and see if it helps.

    Everything is up to date. I just udpated WordPress to 3.5.2 and all of my plugins are up to date except for one shortcode plugin that I am hesitant to update.

    There are some very important functionalities on the website that are dependent on the plugin.

    I am also doubtful since I have had the plugin all along and it was working fine before.

    Are you sure the plugin is compatible with WordPress3.5? Have you contacted the plugin’s developer about it?

    The tag cloud widget that is not working (along with some other tag functionality like in the post editor) is the default tag cloud widget that comes with WordPress. Unless I am mistaken. I am not using a plugin to get the widget as far as I know.

    Do you not have a widget called tag cloud. If it comes from a plugin, it has to be Jetpack.

    I’d suggest that you update that plugin.

    To which plugin are you referring? Jetpack or the shortcode plugin?

    I figured out the problem. The posts I had were private so the related tags and categories were not showing. Didn’t think it would do that. I tested by making them public and that fixed everything. Strangely though some tags WERE still showing in the sidebar even with the posts marked private. Things look ok now. Thanks for the replies.
