 * Could somebody talk me through this plugin’s settings? I’ve used it for a couple
of years but since I got a question from a user, I discovered that nothing works
the way I thought it would (did?).
 * I have a number of roles, most of them are reading permissions and these seem
to work just fine. I also have roles for writing. I have a number of categories
and each one has a writing permission. A user with that permission should be
able to write, edit, etc. posts with that category.
I also use the Timely Event
calendar plugin and I use the same categories for events. A user in writing group
A should be able to write/edit posts and events.
 * Now this filtering on categorie works, but the weird part is: I can’t allow my
users to actually post posts or events. I have used the ‘WP capabilities editor’
to try to allow them to do just that, but they keep getting a ‘you’re not allowed
   to edit this post’ error.
 * So how do I allow users to actually do what I want them to do, filtered by Press
   Permit?

 * What is mostly annoying (btw) is that the capabilities editor has no checkbox
at ‘create event’. But even when I do check ‘create post’ the user gets the error.

 * This is likely not a plugin config/usage issue but a 3rd party plugin incompatibility.
Take a look at Permissions > Settings > Core > Filtered Post Types and make sure
any Timely-related types and taxonomies are unchecked.

 * Thank you for your replies on both fora. Before instaling ‘role editor’ I had
no other plugin doing anything with roles or rights. What type of plugin do you
   suggest could cause this?

 * The potential third party incompatibility I mentioned was for Timely. Let’s continue
this conversation in the pro forum.
