 * I would like to use a layout such as the one shown on this link right here…

   [http://candyvee.diaryland.com/](http://candyvee.diaryland.com/) and [http://candyvee.diaryland.com/older.html](http://candyvee.diaryland.com/older.html)
Can someone give me step by step instructions on how to do that or point me to
a site that can help me? Any help will be greatly appreciate it. Mrs. Boone

 * heh – I went there, clicked to view the CSS …… and *nothing*.
    It’s all tables.
It’s perfectly possible to do in WP. In essence, it’s a large background image.
All css areas are set to ‘transparent’ The header covers the entire width of
the page. The ‘menu’ is left sided. (I’m ignoring the adverts) There is lot here
that would help with the basics: [http://www.mfr.f2s.com/graphicalcss/](http://www.mfr.f2s.com/graphicalcss/)
It may seem complex with the CSS, but it is a lot easier in the end than tables.
Have a look at the pages from that link and post back ?

 * Thanks podz. I will try it. I didn’t want to use css, but I guess since you are
going to make me do this, I will. 🙂
It may just take some work. One more question…
I use Front Page to design my pages. Do you know what code to put on the page
to stop FP from changing the code?

 * I wouldn’t use it – then it can’t change anything 🙂
    Actually, I don’t, no.
I have used FP once, a long time ago. You use FP so you can get a preview of
the page ? That won’t work as such with WP. The code that WP uses can only be
executed by the server, not your computer. I’m making this sound worse aren’t
   I ?

 * I use FP as my html editor because it is the easiest one to use.

 * In that case, when you save the CSS, prior to trying it on your site, save as
   plain text.
Then open it in Notepad and copy out only the css, and none of any
control characters that FP will lob into the mix. The process is basically this:
Edit the CSS Make the changes on your site CSS See how it looks and then do it
again. At this stage, editing index.php is not needed, it’s just the look that
matters, and getting the correct areas in the correct places. There are only
4 (header / menu / content / footer) so it’s not too difficult to achieve. If
you get stuck, feel free to email me – there is a link from my page (click my
   name).
