 * Hi there,
 * Question for you! I’ve been backing up my site with Updraft Plus and some time
   ago, I tried to restore a back-up and it gave me a fail error. The back up could
   not be restored in full.
 * I made a couple of changes to the backup and now I’d like to double-check that
   the back-ups I’ve been doing work 100% when restoring my site. Any way I could
   test this easily? (I’m not very savvy into tech coding or anything so any simple
   way would be appreciated!).
 * Thank you,
 * Sofia

 * Here are a couple of bit of more general advice;
 * The first thing would be to always check your logs.
 * Secondly, restoring your site is a lot easier easier if you have optimised your
   site (particularly your DB). You can use the free plugin getwpo.com to do DB
   optimisations or there are other alternatives available.
 * With regards to answering your question. I always recommend users try and restore
   a backup on a regular basis (it lets you know what you can expect to see if the
   worst happens and helps preempt any restore issues)
 * I often use local host to test backups.
 * If you are using a Window machine, WAMP is popular: [https://blog.containerize.com/how-to-install-and-configure-wamp-server-on-windows/](https://blog.containerize.com/how-to-install-and-configure-wamp-server-on-windows/)
 * If you are using a MAC, you will probably using MAMP: [https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2011/09/developing-wordpress-locally-with-mamp/](https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2011/09/developing-wordpress-locally-with-mamp/)
 * Most hosting will let you set up a subdomain, so you could also setup a test
   site on a subdomain for this purpose
 * Or we have a really neat cloning service: [https://updraftplus.com/updraftclone/](https://updraftplus.com/updraftclone/)
