The site is hosted on GoDaddy and after they updated their WordPress recently the text editor went blank.
A previous topic mentioned this was due to GoDaddy getting some javascript files wrong.

I posted onto this thread and Simon Prosser arranged for his contact at GoDaddy to sort the text editor. This now works fine but unfortunately a large amount of the content of the website has disappeared when he made the changes. The pages are all there but lots of photos, text and widgets have disappeared from most pages.

I was asked by Ben Carlo to start this new topic.

Is there anything that can be done to replace the content please, or will I need to redo it from scratch? If I can remember it all of course.

    Regards
    Richard

    Hey @richardgarbutt,

The issue was coming from a JS file that GD needed to update. It should have no way of affecting the content on your site since these are stored on the database.

Do you mind sharing at least a single URL of a page with missing content? And what kind of content went missing?

    Hi Ben,

    Thanks for helping with this.

    http://brixworthcommunitychurch.org/about/
Had about 6 photos with a little text about each one under the headings of “Meet the Leadership team etc” and 4 photos and text under “Home Group Leaders” plus a contact form at the bottom of the page.

    http://brixworthcommunitychurch.org/activities/
Had about 8 photos and a lot of text for each one plus a contact form at the bottom.

If I did a restore of the site back to where it was a week ago, would that solve the problem, or would it put the incorrect javascript files back and cause my original problem with the text editor?

    Regards

    Hey @richardgarbutt,

That would depend on what kind of restore you’d do. If it’s only a database, the content should be back and it shouldn’t affect the files GD updated. If it’s the entire WP install along with the database, you’ll have the same issue with the editor before but we can always have GD update it for you.

Before you go that route, can you try checking if Revisions are enabled on your site? If the page was published before, there should be revision available for it. You can check the article below for more info. 🙂

    Hi Ben,

    Thanks for that.

I checked the Revisions and found that even pages that were created before the rogue update by GD were not displaying the missing items. That indicated to me that it was not a problem with the pages themselves, but WordPress or a plug-in.

I then went through all the plugins and disabled them and re-enabled them one at a time in a similar manner to when I had the original text editor problem.

The content reappeared when I re-enabled Beaver Builder itself. The changes made by GD must have affected it.

All the content is back now and the Beaver Builder text editor works fine as well.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hey @richardgarbutt,

I think I see the problem now. Those pages are using our Callout module which isn’t available on our Lite version. But it is offered by the Beaver Booster plugin which is exclusive for certain GoDaddy subscriptions.

That must have been disabled on your site for some reason and once it was re-enabled, the content came back. 🙂

    Ben
