• I have a bit of a strange one that I need some help figuring out.

I have all of the spam settings in the discussion tab turned off. Akismet is off yet some how all the spam messages for Viagra and porn are still getting filtered… Despite their clever working to look like a real comment. with 99% accuracy!

Now I have posted the same comment and it does not get caught.

The only thing for spam I have is Re-Captcha and i wonder if a user fails the captcha x amount of times that their message gets put in spam but I just cant replicate this…

Anyone got any ideas how they spam messages are getting filtered?!?! Does WordPress have some basic built in filtering? If so how does this work?

    Many Thanks,
    Luke

  • There’s no comment filtering with WP unless you’ve added something to the Comment Meoderation or Comment Blacklist boxes in Admin/Settings/Discussion. Have you tried deactivating the Never Moderate Registered Users plugin?

Nope all the discussion settings are blank…

Will try disabling NMRU plugin but cant see how that’s filtering stuff. it should only be involved in not filtering things….
