 * If I’ve purchased a theme but would like to add to it, is that allowed? i.e. 
   Would like to customise it to have different sidebar content on each page. Am
   inserting a photo album widget in the sidebar and would like the photos to match
   the content on the page.
 * Is it simply a matter of having a coder customise it?

 * In theory, all WordPress themes should be released under GPL – which means you
   are free to change any or all of the theme. In reality, try checking the license
   on the theme. Or ask the theme’s vendors.
