 * I started using WordPress.com and once I had my first blog published I quickly
realized that a WordPress.com hosted blog was too limited in what types of code
they allow to be posted. That is when I decided to purchase a WordPress hosting
account with my domain registrar. Now that my new hosting account is setup and
WordPress is installed and running I immediately began to recreate the blog I
originally started on WordPress.com. The first thing I did was search for and
install the same theme, Twenty Eleven. This theme worked great for me on WordPress.
com, but now that I am using it on my new WordPress installation at my web host,
I noticed a difference. The difference occurs when viewing the blog on a mobile
device. On the WordPress.com version of the Blog the main menu and search box
would reformat nicely for the small mobile screen. Now on the WordPress installation
at my web host the menu and search box don’t reformat for the smaller screen
and it just looks awkward. Can anyone help me to get the menu and search box
to do what they were doing on WordPress.com? The WordPress.com blog is still
live and its url is EmpireNightsEnt.com. The newer web host installation of the
WordPress blog is located at EmpireNightsEntertainment.com. BTW.. I am not using
the JetPack mobile feature. I don’t like they look of the site when using that
feature. I chose the Twenty Eleven theme because it’s responsive layout reformatted
nicely on small mobile screens. But now its not.
 * Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks 🙂

 * Have you modified the Twenty Eleven theme? I don’t see the same issue on the
   theme’s demo site: [http://wp-themes.com/twentyeleven/](http://wp-themes.com/twentyeleven/).
 * _Btw_ it’s expected for WordPress.com themes to look different to WordPress.org
   as they operate differently.

 * The only modifications I made to the theme are the basic ones that the theme
allows like choosing colors and adding a header image.

 * Themes may not be identical between .COM and .ORG, but twentyeleven should not
have resizing issues. But without seeing your site, no way to help with this
kind of issue – can you post a link to it?

 * I’m experimenting with different themes now on EmpireNightsEntertainment.com
so chances are if anyone visits this site it will not be using the Twenty Eleven
theme anymore. However, I really prefer the Twenty Eleven theme and would love
it if someone could tell me how to get the search box on the menu bar to behave
like it does on the WordPress.COM version of the theme when it resizes for mobile
screens. On the WordPress.com version of the theme, when resized for mobile screens
the search box stays in the menu bar and simply shrinks to hide the search box
and only shows the search icon. Then when someone clicks on the search icon,
the search box expands in the menu bar allowing them to type in the box. On the
WordPress.ORG version of Twenty Eleven, when resized for mobile screens the search
box moves up into the header area.
