 * I was unable to edit posts and pages today, getting the error page “Error Establishing
   a Database Connection” whenever I tried to save an edit. Thinking it was likely
   a problem with WordPress or my server, I called Bluehost to troubleshoot. The
   problem wasn’t on their end, and they advised me to check my site’s wp-admin/
   error_log. When I did so, I saw a seemingly endless list of this error:
 * [26-Jun-2016 04:18:52 UTC] PHP Warning: include(/home4/ifameric/public_html/israelpalestinetimeline/
   wp-content/themes/libre/inc/updater.php): failed to open stream: No such file
   or directory in /home4/ifameric/public_html/israelpalestinetimeline/wp-content/
   themes/libre/functions.php on line 334
 * I haven’t edited updater.php or functions.php, the only thing I’ve done regarding
   the theme is add custom CSS.
 * Can you let me know what I may need to do to fix these files, or is this something
   only the theme authors can do?

 * Thank you so much for the beautiful theme!

 * Hi [@wildredpoppy](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wildredpoppy/),
 * There isn’t a file named **updater.php** in Libre’s directory by default and
   I wonder whether this is being added via a third-party plugin.
 * Could you try deactivating your plugin’s one by one to see if you can pinpoint
   any that are causing the error? If you can’t access your site’s WP Admin area
   then [follow the guidance here](http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-wp-admin/)
   to deactivate all of your plugins via FTP.
 * Let me know how that goes!

 * Hi [@siobhyb](https://wordpress.org/support/users/siobhyb/), thanks so much for
   the reply. I’m new to WordPress, so when I deactivate each plugin, how do I check
   to see if it makes a difference? Would I refresh the wp-admin/error_log page
   each time and then scroll to the bottom to look for something different? Thanks
   again!

 * Welcome to WordPress, [@wildredpoppy](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wildredpoppy/)!
   🙂
 * After deactivating each plugin, you’d need to refresh your browser and then take
   the action that previously resulted in the error i.e. editing and saving a post.
 * Let me know how that goes.

 * Hi there,
 * After looking over this thread, my colleague informed me that the **updater.php**
   file is actually included in the download of the theme from WordPress.com. It’s
   not likely that this is related to the database error, however.
 * As a test: You could try deleting the version of the theme that you installed
   from WordPress.com and, instead, download/activate the version available from
   WordPress.org:
 * [https://wordpress.org/themes/libre/](https://wordpress.org/themes/libre/)
 * Let me know if you give that a try.
