Then there are some companies offering wordpress themes that, yes, do look better, but at the cost. Now, I am not against paying IF I get nice package, something that I tweak and adjust to my liking without being a pro. It may be better to find something free (GPL) that is close to what you want and then pay someone to tweak if for you.
