Theme strings only apply after second page refresh. everything else switches.

I’m using Polylang for years now and never had this problem (I use the same base theme every time), so I’m absolutely lost atm. A working example would be the german/french shop benke.ch. But on world-mts.com it just doesn’t work as expected – when I switch languages, everything gets translated (content, menus, strings in widgets and so on), but the strings provided by my theme only switch after a page reload (first ones are the two buttons in the topbar).

Now the weird thing: If I click on another language, theme strings switch to the last one selected. If im on French and switch to Russian, the strings in the topbar buttons stay French. If i then switch to German or English, the strings switch to Russian!? How can this happen?
