 * I’m in the process of creating my own theme for WP (first WP theme ever) and
the static pages I’m using to create the CSS code is starting to look the way
   I want (haven’t tried IE 6 yet 🙂 ).
 * Anyway, I thought I copy an existing theme and make my modifications. Is there
any special theme that is especially useful for this or should I just take the
   default theme?

 * i always start my themes from sandbox these days:

it can be a bit confusing, but you can basically ignore everything in functions.
php (leave the file as it is in your theme)
 * some people swear by building from the “classic” theme that’s in the default
   wordpress installation.

 * Thanks, this is probably what I need.
