I just set up a new blog. Everything seemed to go fine but regardless of which theme I use, including the Classic theme, it doesn’t line up properly. The side panel is at the bottom of the page instead of being up toward the top.

So that’s my problem. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • it’s a common problem, first thing to do is check for extra long links or especially images wider than the content is defined.

Without a link, it’s stabbing in the dark though.

    Miklb,

Here’s a link. Thanks for your help.

    What do you think?

What’s the “navigation” all about? Where’s that pasted into the code. I’d guess that’s what’s doing it.

Thanks miklb, I don’t know what you mean by “What’s the “navigation” all about? Where’s that pasted into the code.”

I created this blog like I’ve created several before it. All the rest didn’t have this problem. I don’t believe I did anything differently with this one.

If it were only a custom theme I might think that was the problem but I have the problem no matter what theme I use, even the Classic one.

So, to the best of my knowledge I didn’t do anything and I don’t know where the code is posted. All I know is that I did this before about 6 times and they were fine, but this one isn’t.

I appreciate your help and wish I could respond more intelligently. miklb, where do I go from here?

About 1/4 way down the page there’s a graphic that says navigation, and a bunch of links about that to external sites. Where did you paste that code?
It’s a table with a width of 750px. I’d bet dollars to doughnuts that’s the problem.

miklb, I don’t believe I pasted any code. Tell me where to look and I’ll look for it though.

    Ealvin –

he’s saying that there’s an image that says “navigation” that appears in your sidebar. It’s sitting in a table that’s 750px wide. However, your sidebar width should be – MAX – 190px. So your sidebar is WAY too wide, and is pushing itself down below the content, where there’s room for it.

He’s wondering where you pasted this wide table into your code – is it in the footer.php? Index.php? Where is it? Where did you get it and why would you set the width of the sidebar to be as wide as the rest of the page? This is what’s causing your drop.

Doodle, thanks for clarifying that; however, I didn’t paste anything in to my theme. But, if it appears in all themes, would that mean it isn’t in the theme at all?

If someone can specifically tell me what to look for and give me some general idea where I might find it, I’ll begin looking.

BTW, since I didn’t paste anything in, could it be related to a plug-in? Could that be causing the problem?

    ealvin,

You have to have added the kontera links stuff, that’s not in the default theme. So something you’ve added to your site is creating the table with the image that’s breaking your theme.

    The image in question.

Thanks, I have an idea of what that’s about. I appreciate your help.
