• What is the point of taking backups, when restore does not work?
I have been sleeping well in confidence of that UPDRAFTPLUS will protect me with backup in case if something wrong happen with my site.
All the backups I have, runned with an absolutely perfect status. Everything looked just super duper perfect according to UPDRAFTPLUS…
Until I needed to restore everything I took backup of!

    Then the message is:

“This file does not exist locally, and there is no remote storage for this file.”

    Hi,

This message indicates that you did not use remote storage (e.g. Dropbox) for the backup, and that somebody removed the local copy. If the backup record still existed in UpdraftPlus, then this indicates that it wasn’t removed by UpdraftPlus itself (if UD prunes a backup (e.g. when you’ve configured to keep a certain number), it removes the record too). i.e. This indicates it was manually removed. e.g. A web hosting company has a policy forbidding you to keep long-term backups on the site, and silently removes them after a time. Or disk corruption on the server lost the file (for this reason UpdraftPlus recommends always using remote storage, so your eggs aren’t all in one basket – i.e. backups on the same disk as the website). Or human error. If you have the log file for the backup, or any other data, please open a support topic in the forum here, and it can be looked at: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/updraftplus/ .

    David
